Former Florida Probation Officer Charged in Database Leak Case

Crystal Lawson Florida: Former Probation Officer Charged in Database Leak Case

Crystal Gaynell Ann Lawson, a 32–33-year-old former juvenile probation officer with Florida’s Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) in Orange County, faces serious felony charges after allegedly leaking confidential information. Hired in February 2022, Lawson had access to the department’s Confidential Criminal Information System (CCIS) database Source 6.

Authorities claim Lawson accessed the system without authorization between 106 and 113 times from late 2025 through early 2026. She is accused of sharing arrest warrants, active investigations, and other sensitive case details with members of a suspected Central Florida drug-trafficking organization. Detectives say the leaks helped targets evade capture and disrupted multiple law-enforcement probes Source 3.

Lawson was terminated following an internal investigation. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office Intelligence Unit arrested her; she now faces 113 felony counts of unauthorized computer access and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device. If convicted, she could receive a sentence exceeding 500 years in state prison Source 5. The case remains pending in Florida courts.
